Online casinos are getting more and more popular, and their number is increasing rapidly, however, many players still prefer going to traditional casinos and do not trust online establishments. Such distrust is probably justified to certain degree, however, playing online now is as safe as playing at a real casino, as each quality online platform now uses special computer algorithms to control the honesty of a game.
Honesty control
What is honesty control in an online casino? It’s a system, which is commonly used in large online Poker rooms / casinos, and it allows the player to check if the house is honest and if game results are what they should be.
In practice, this works as follows: the player has a chance to check all the numbers that are randomly generated during the game (and which determine the results of many games played online, such as Blackjack, Roulette and many others). The casino forwards all information – generated on the cards drawn, dealing in Blackjack / Poker, results of Roulette spins and so on – to the player as encrypted information. The player then has the possibility to check this information himself and to see whether the results of the actual game are consistent with this info.
Why is honesty control so important for online casinos? If such system is used, a casino cannot influence the results of the game (for example, in Roulette the casino can not generate a black if you bid on the red as spins are generated randomly). This way you can be 100% sure that the house does not have any influence on the results of the game and on your odds of winning.
A special computer algorithm called MD5 is used to encode data in modern casinos. It works by assigning a particular word, also knows as a hash-key, to the information sent to the player. This is done to protect the data from unauthorised access, and is a very safe method to use: it’s impossible to match a random word to a hash key as its length is 6 bytes, and it would take several hundred years even for a supercomputer to crack it.
How to make sure that playing online is safe?
There are some safer, ’non-spy’ methods of testing the safety of a playing at a particular casino, without the use of honesty control, MD5 algorithm data encoding and the rest. These will allow you to tell if you should play at a particular web address (or shouldn’t).
First of all, before depositing any money, try to do some research. Read the reviews and feedback of other real users, carefully study the rules (some casinos charge you commission for certain actions, and as a result playing there isn’t profitable, because the account seems to just evaporate or total wins will be negligible). Secondly, try to select large and well-established casinos, which have been on the market for a long time. It’s good to use ratings of online casinos as well, these tend to have all the necessary information for you to determine whether you should play there or not.
