Types of Poker Games

  • Draw Poker: in Draw Poker, players are given a completely hidden hand. They improve it by replacing cards. The most common type is the Five Card Draw. All players are dealt five cards each and they bet against one another. All those five cards are dealt face down. The rounds that consequently follow are the betting and draw rounds. This is the simplest variant of Poker and is availablein online casinos as Video Poker. You could try this free Poker and test out the waters before investing any cash!
  • Stud Poker: here, the player receives both face-up and face-down cards, and there are multiple betting rounds. The most common versions of this type of Poker are Seven Card Stud and Five Card Stud. In the first, there are from two to eight players involved. If no player folds when the last cards are dealt, then special rules are applied. It’s common to use a small ante and bring-in at a casino. Experienced players also tend to fold often. In the second version, no limit, filed limit, and spread limit games are common, and any of them begins with players being dealt one card face-down. Try playing Poker online to test your skills!
  • Community Card Poker: here, the player is dealt an incomplete hand with face-up cards. Some popular variants of this game are Texas Hold’em and Omaha Hold’em. The community cards are shared ones and are dealt face-up on the table. The objective is to combine the cards that the players have and the community cards to get the highest hand to win. In Texas Hold’em, all players are given two private cards, then there’s a betting round. The ‘flop’ is introduced in the form of three community cards, and then another round of betting takes place. Then this process repeats all over again. When the rounds are done, a showdown takes place where the player with the best hand wins. In Omaha Hold’em players are given four cards. The player has to make his or her best hand with two of the cards he or she is dealt as private cards, and three out of five of the community cards on the table. It uses a 52 card French deck.
