Crimea, which recently joined Russian Federation, could soon become an open gambling zone with the developed infrastructure of casinos and other entertainment venues. Currently Russian laws prohibit gambling, except in the four areas that are located in various parts of the country, but all are quite far away from Moscow and are not that popular. Crimea is actually fairly close by Russian standards: only 1,350 km from Moscow, a two-hour flight away from the capital. Additionally, the location and the proximity to Black Sea makes Crimea most sought-after location for a gambling zone.
Currently, however, the sovereignty is an awkward question due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, and this stops Crimea from becoming a potential tourist hotspot. Even though the area has joined Russia based on the referendum that has taken place amongst the locals, Ukraine and a range of other countries resuse to accept its results. So it's too early to talk about any significant financial investments just yet.
