The introduction of online slots in December 2012 to the Italian market has not contributed to the overall growth of the casino industry in Italy due to lower income from Poker. The total spending in January and February amounted to €217.4 million, but, according to a regulatory body AAMS, the revenue from slots rose by over 80% in the first three months of this year compared with the previous one.
Income figures fell dramatically from casino games and Poker, showing a decline of 34.6% cash Poker and 36.4% for tournament Poker. During the first quarter of 2012, casino incomes were on the bottom of the casino ocean, but during the first quarter of this year, it fell to €59.8 million, amounting to €43.1 million for cash Poker and €28.7 for tournament Poker.
Lottomatica holds the largest share on the market with its casino site dot.it, that would be about 15% of the market in January, February and March. Snai is the second operator with its market share of over 10% and 10.6% in the first quarter of this year.
Regulatory documents for the exchange rates in Italy are to be taken before the end of the month, so Betfair and Microgaming are preparing to obtain their licenses for their new products. Currently, none of the operators has not reached even 1% of the market.
