Macau To Double Their Revenue By 2017

According to a new report Normura Equity Research, Macau will double their income from gambling over the next 4 years. In 2012 Macau casino revenues reached a record 38 billion USD. Due to the increased consumer demand and the fact that officials hand out visas to individual to most Chinese cities, by 2017 Macau’s revenue could reach $70 billion.

According to the agency’s reports, Macau currently has 57,187 gambling sites with 1,891 people per seat. The vast majority of gamblers are from Hong Kong and the Guangdong City.

Casino NewsTo be fair,  there has been little enthusiasm among licensees to add new gaming options with one exception. Luis Mesquita de Melo (Former General Counsel of China) noted that the last administrative regulation of slot machines included a new section devoted to the use of the mobile devices to play at any casino. De Melo admitted that the change in the law makes sense in case of opening the market of sports betting.

Sports betting in Macau was introduced not that long ago, appearing in 2012 with the revenue of $52.3 (mostly, horse racing). During the same year, Nevada bookmakers earned $170 million. While there is a little test interest towards sports betting, De Melo admits that 'there is a significant investor interest' in the business. Therefore, huge changes are expected to follow to popularise sports betting in Macau.
