Over the last two years all fans of online Poker who are living in the USA had to use various techniques to play in any online Poker room. Online Poker has been illegal in USA since 2011. In the nearby future the situation is supposed to change as online Poker is going to be legalised.
Some states have seen the first initiatives to return online Poker to the officially approved status in the early 2013, and several days ago a new law has been presented. It aims to regulate online Poker rooms in the USA, with an aim of making the Poker rooms activity crystal clear and to prevent money laundering.
The HR 26666 Internet Poker Freedom Act of 2013 is currently in Congress, and it's an optional piece of legislation for each state, which means that online Poker could still be kept illegal in some individual states. The Act also states that online casinos should prohibit the access of the people with addiction to the game or pay a fine of $1 million.
- Poker rooms must prohibit access of adolescent to the game;
- Poker rooms must identify the gambling addiction and help preventing it;
- Users from those states where online Poker is still illegal must not be able to play;
- Poker rooms is obliged to provide all players with an option to limit their spending, such as a limit of daily / monthly spending;
- Poker roomsis obliged to prevent money laundering.
Of course, only a few of the casinos would be able to live up to such strict requirements, and it's not clear whether the Congress will pass the Act: in 2011 a similar document by Joe Burton failed.
