Last Thursday, Kansspelautoriteit, a large gaming operator, has signed an agreement with the mass media of Netherlands concerning the restrictions of illegal gambling advertising. The purpose of this agreement is to protect local consumers from manifestations of illegal activities in the area. The agreement has already been signed by 8 parties, among which are the printed media, representatives of radio stations, TV and Internet sources. The Dutch operator hopes that very soon the idea will be also supported by other media.
Meanwhile, Kansspelautoriteit is steadily moving in this direction. For example, those sites that have been approved by the operator, contain no advertising of gambling. The local government also stays connected to the process. Parliamentaries of the Netherlands are considering a law that assumes an increase of tax rates to 20% of the gross gaming revenue.
